VISITING SINGAPORE

Singapore standard time is 8 hours ahead of GMT (+8 GMT).

The weather in Singapore is usually warm and humid, at 30°C - 35°C. Light clothing is advisable.

The standard electrical current used in Singapore is 220- 240 volts AC (50 cycles). Power plugs with three square prongs are used here. Please check the voltage of appliances before using the power socket.

Tap water is potable as the water in Singapore passes World Health Organization standards.

The official currency of Singapore is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Major international credit cards are widely accepted and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and money changers are easily accessible throughout the city. The average exchange rate is 1 USD = 1.35 SGD as of April 2019.

English is the working language in Singapore. Many Singaporeans also speak an additional language, usually Mandarin Chinese, Malay or Tamil.

Wi-fi and Connectivity. Visitors can register for a free public Wi-fi account with their foreign mobile numbers at any Wireless@SG hotspot. Overseas charges may apply.

Tipping is not necessary as a service charge of 10% is usually automatically incorporated in bills.
